The Platinum EBT Card

pirate-n-plunderKnowest thou the Commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.” Mark 10:19

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

I don’t have a subscription to the Christian Science Monitor, as I reject the doctrines of Christian Science; however I was sent a copy of an article of theirs, by a friend of our Party; about a recent EBT card scandal in Louisiana, so I will be quoting from that article.

October 16, 2013-“Wal-Mart Stores Inc and Xerox Corp. blamed each other on Monday, (10/14/13) after Louisiana food stamp recipients stripped bare the shelves of some Wal-Mart stores when a computer glitch left their debit cards with no limits. Managers of Wal-Mart stores in the small, north Louisiana towns of Springhill and Mansfield alerted police on Saturday (10/12/13) that throngs of shoppers had flooded into the stores and were buying groceries using electronic benefit cards that contained no limits.”

“When word got out Saturday that the EBT cards were showing no limits, card holders rushed to the area Wal-Marts to take advantage. Some people had eight or ten shopping carts full of groceries according to Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd, Lynd arrived at his town’s Wal-Mart store at about 7PM. local time and found a few hundred shoppers jamming checkout lines to overflowing. The shoppers broke no laws, Lynd said, adding that police intervention was not required to disburse the crowd. At about 9PM Wal-Mart said the glitch had been fixed (By Xerox) and the EBT cards were again showing limits. ‘When they heard the announcement, people just left their carts in place and walked out of the store,’ Lynd said.”

There were several towns that had this problem in northern Louisiana, but most stores weren’t afraid to assert their right to refuse service to the perpetrators of this fraud. I take issue with Lynd’s statement that this mob of thieves broke no laws. They broke God’s Law, “Thou shalt not steal.” Exodus 20:15 They may not have been charged with a State Statute, but this is a classic example of the “legal plunder,” that is the welfare system.

This group of characterless people probably got the word out over the free “Obama-phones,” that I’ve heard so much about. Speaking about Obama, he and his cronies might consider an EBT card without limits a good thing, and call it the Platinum EBT Card, or the Obama-card. After all, such an action would ruin our Nation at a far quicker pace than anything we have been hit with to date. He can call it “Affordable Charity,” never mind the rate payers and taxpayers in this Nation who are being brought to ruin by these policies, its “Affordable.”

The Constitution Party of Wisconsin considers the term “Welfare Fraud,” to be redundant. We consider all welfare to be a fraud. The proper jurisdictions for charity are first the home, and second the Church. Civil government taxation is backed by force, so on principle; government welfare spending is nothing more than the forced redistribution of your hard earned money. Need more proof, how many of you would willing give your money to people like those mentioned in the Christian Science Monitor article? Welfare fraud is more like “fraud fraud,” or fraud squared. The final reason why CPoW wants to end the welfare system: if there is no system in place, then there is no system to play.

The “not so fair” Fair Tax

16th Amendmentby Travis Augustine, CPoW Member in Wausau, Wisconsin

You hear about it everywhere.  The Fair Tax this, the Fair Tax that.  Let’s take a little look at the so-called Fair Tax and I’m sure you’ll see that it is not so fair after all.  Nor does it do anything to reign-in big government spending.

The first thing to be considered when you look at the Fair Tax proposal the prebate.  What’s a prebate you ask?  It’s money you get every month from the government regardless of your income level to ensure that those below the poverty level are not as affected by the new sky high federal sales tax.  In other words, someone below the poverty line will get money from the government to cover their share of the Fair Tax and will not actually have any skin in the game with regard to federal spending.  Effectively they could, as they do today, actually have a negative tax rate, whereas someone who is wealthy [read: above the poverty line] will have an effective tax rate of the proposed 23%.  Sure sounds like a “tax the rich” progressive tax scheme to me.  Not very “fair”.

The second thing to consider with regard to the Fair Tax is that there is nothing to stop the federal government from raising this point of sale tax rate to 35%, 45%, insert your high percentage rate here.  Therefore, it does nothing to reign-in government spending.

By contrast, the Constitution Party opposes the Fair Tax proposal for several reasons, all of which are detailed in the party platform which can be viewed here, but let me share a couple of the high points here for you.

From the “tariff’s and trade” portion of the platform:

“Article I, Section 8 provides that duties, imposts, and excises are legitimate revenue-raising measures on which the United States government may properly rely. We support a tariff based revenue system, as did the Founding Fathers, which was the policy of the United States during most of the nation’s history. In no event will the U.S. tariff on any foreign import be less than the difference between the foreign item’s cost of production and the cost of production of a similar item produced in the United States. The cost of production of a U.S. product shall include, but not be limited to, all compensation, including fringe benefits, paid to American workers, and environmental costs of doing business imposed on business by federal, state, and local governments.

Tariffs are not only a constitutional source of revenue, but, wisely administered, are an aid to preservation of the national economy. Since the adoption of the 1934 Trade Agreements Act, the United States government has engaged in a free trade policy which has destroyed or endangered important segments of our domestic agriculture and industry, undercut the wages of our working men and women, and totally destroyed or shipped abroad the jobs of hundreds of thousands of workers. This free trade policy is being used to foster socialism in America through welfare and subsidy programs.”

From the “taxes” portion of the platform:

“The Constitution, in Article I, Section 8, gives Congress the power “to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States.”

In Article I, Section 9, the original document made clear that “no Capitation, or other direct Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census of Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.” It is moreover established that “No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.

Since 1913, our Constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property have been abridged and diminished by the imposition on each of us of Federal income, payroll, and estate taxes. This is an unconstitutional Federal assumption of direct taxing authority.”

“We propose legislation to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, and will veto any authorization, appropriation, or continuing resolution which contains any funding whatsoever for that illicit and unconstitutional agency. We are opposed to the flat-rate tax, national sales tax, and value added tax proposals that are being promoted as an improvement to the current tax system. The Sixteenth Amendment does not provide authority for an un-apportioned direct tax.

Moreover, it is our intention to replace, with a tariff based revenue system supplemented by excise taxes, the current tax system of the U.S. government (including income taxes, payroll taxes, and estate taxes.)

To the degree that tariffs on foreign products, and excises, are insufficient to cover the legitimate Constitutional costs of the federal government, we will offer an apportioned “state-rate tax” in which the responsibility for covering the cost of unmet obligations will be divided among the several states in accordance with their proportion of the total population of the United States, excluding the District of Columbia. Thus, if a state contains 10 percent of the nation’s citizens, it will be responsible for assuming payment of 10 percent of the annual deficit.

The effect of this “state-rate tax” will be to encourage politicians to argue for less, rather than more, federal spending, and less state spending as well.”

This abolishing of the 16th Amendment and forcing the federal government back onto a diet of tariffs and excise taxes with any deficit being apportioned among the states with regards to the various states’ population will bring the federal budget into the lime light far more than simply another direct tax on the people through a point of sale tax ever will.  The states themselves will have to cough up the money to cover the deficit which will put pressure on the state legislatures to pressure Washington to reduce spending in order to minimize the deficit.  A direct flow of money from the people, to the states, to the federal government will also help restore the balance of power and make it much harder for the federal government to use “federal dollars” to get the states to do what they want.

Our Conversation and the Local Initiative

For our conversation is in heaven: from whence we also look for the Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ:” Philippians 3:20

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

A popular tactic of the social gospel is to quote the NIV translation of Philippians 3:20, stating; “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” The liberals usually don’t quote the whole verse, they quote, “But our citizenship is in heaven.” Before I go into my remarks, I will state upfront, I read, recommend and quote the King James Authorized Translation of the Holy Scriptures. I can’t delve into that area, but I believe in “God’s Word Preserved and Faithfully Translated.”

The reason such men quote the NIV, even if they never preach from the NIV; is they like the way that phrase sounds, and they want to spurn their duties as Christians in America.  So the “Citizenship in heaven,” concept is their rationale to justify their social work, and their contempt for their own country.

So, is the word Citizen a mistranslation, as compared to the word conversation? It is out of context, the verse is talking about Jesus’ second coming. However, when I referenced my Strong’s Concordance, the term used was “politeuma,” meaning citizenship, or conversation. It differs from “anastrophe,” the Greek word usually rendered “conversation,” or “behavior.” “Politeuma,” is used in Philippians 3:20 as conversation, and in Philippians 1:27 the word “politeumai,” is used meaning to behave as a citizen. According to the Vine’s Bible Dictionary, “Politeuma-signifies the condition or life of the citizen-AV- our citizenship is in heaven.”

Both words regarding citizenship are from the Greek Politos, and Polis. Polis is the word city in Revelations 21:2, 21:14 and 21:19. Polis is where we get Politics, and Polity from. A Polis in the Hellenic world meant a City-State. In Ancient Greece, all Politics was local literally.

What I experienced was apostate men lifting a Scripture out of context, for their own purposes. There are places in the Bible that refer to citizenship down here, in this present age. The Apostle Paul used his right of appeal to Caesar; he also asserted his right to prevent himself from being scourged. Then there is the Lord’s Prayer, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 So you can see that being a citizen of heaven, and behaving as such, isn’t a call to escapism, it is a call to Christian Statesmanship.

Regarding the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate, who better to behave as a Christian, a Christian or a non-Christian? There is nothing idolatrous about you as a Christian trying for an appointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals, or the School Board’s Parental Advisory Committee, or the Parade Committee, or the Graffiti Abatement Board. You have the mind of Christ, the unbeliever doesn’t. I find it cheap and hypocritical when the Christians complain about the lack of Christian Statesmen, when they won’t run, won’t serve, and won’t support their fellow Christians involvement in Politics, which is part of their duties toward God. The people of God can demonstrate their heavenly citizenship right now, here on earth by applying the local initiative, and standing for the truth in these perilous times.

Do You Want Family Supporting or Family Destroying Jobs?

He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread:

but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.” Proverbs 28:19

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

After several months of neoconservative propaganda from the libertarian-wing of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, I decided to respond to the notion that the jobs offered at a casino are “family supporting jobs,” as the sound bites purport them to be. There are several things to consider: What is a productive job? What is a legitimate service? What is a family supporting job? What is a swindle?

  •          What is a productive job? A business that produces a legitimate product for a profit. Our manufacturing base has been decimated. Those jobs, because they multiply our natural resources by our God-given creativity, produce wealth and are able to pay family supporting wages.
  •          What is a legitimate service? A legitimate service distributes those products to the consumer, things like grocery stores and auto repair shops. Another form of legitimate service is a service that is provided that is something other than a produced product. Lawyers, doctors and nurses provide such services that benefit their clients.
  •          What is a family supporting job? A family supporting job is a job that pays a high enough wage for the “man of the house” to support his wife and children.
  •          What is a swindle? Take a walk down the midway at a carnival and you will find no shortages of swindles. Our economy is starting to resemble such. A swindle produces nothing, provides nothing, promises you easy money, and then takes your money, or induces you to spend your money on their unproductive false promises. Multilevel marketing schemes and chain letters are prime examples.

What about gambling? Will those casino jobs provide a family supporting wage? I hardly think so. Do those jobs provide a legitimate service? No. Those jobs produce nothing.  The only productivity comes with the company that made the slot machines, spinning wheels and playing cards. Are those legitimate products? They are luxuries at best and idolatry in the name of “lady luck” in the main. There is one more thing to consider.  Even if a man or a woman is a sensible gambler and only spends $100.00 at the casino once a week, that is $5,200 per year that could be used productively. They wouldn’t give me that money, even though I will be honest with them and tell them I will give them nothing in return. No, it is the lure of easy money. Gambling has ruined many a family budget and has led to divorce and family breakdown. It has also been a motive in many cases of theft and embezzlement.

The Constitution Party of Wisconsin (CPoW) platform states:

“Gambling promotes an increase in crime, destruction of family values, and a decline in the moral fiber of our country. We are opposed to government sponsorship, involvement in, or promotion of gambling, such as lotteries, or subsidization of Native American casinos in the name of economic development.”

Regarding the proposed casino in Kenosha:  Does Kenosha need more family supporting jobs? Always! Does Kenosha need more crime? Never! The real question is, do you earn your wages by helping, or by destroying your neighbor? Because those paychecks will come from what has been swindled out of people’s pockets, the Constitution Party of Wisconsin is against any and all forms of gambling, including the Kenosha casino.  We call on Governor Scott Walker to do the right thing.

Constitution Party of Wisconsin honors veterans this Veterans Day 2013

veterans_day_2013Freedom is not free.  This fact is often forgotten by the majority of Americans.  Members of the United States military have been asked to put their lives, fortunes and sacred honor on the line at the request of our American government.  They have done so throughout our history, often paying the ultimate price.  They have done so without question and without hesitation.  This Veterans Day 2013, the Constitution Party of Wisconsin (CPoW) has the following to say to all of our veterans:  Thank you.

The CPoW platform states:

“The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportionate to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their country.”

The Constitution Party of Wisconsin appreciates the contributions of our servicemen and veterans for the preservation of American freedom. We shall continue to recognize their contributions to the national welfare by providing equitable pay and benefits to our military personnel, and generous health, education, and other benefits to veterans.

We vigorously resist the attempt by any government agency to nullify or reduce earned benefits to veterans and their survivors, including but not limited to, compensation, pensions, education, and health care.

Please take a moment today to reach out to a veteran and express your appreciation for their sacrifice.

What can YOU do to stop Common Core?

Train up a child in the way he should go:

and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

Our Wisconsin State Statutes regarding education are egregious, yet the State of Wisconsin has given us limited means to deal with the ill-conceived efforts of our legislature, at least for now.  It may be an entirely different educational world, once Common Core is fully in place. Currently by statute, here are the following remedies:

118.019(3)(3)  Distribution of curriculum to parents; notice. Each school board that provides an instructional program in human growth and development shall annually provide the parents or guardians of each pupil enrolled in the school district with an outline of the human growth and development curriculum used in the pupil’s grade level, information regarding how the parent or guardian may inspect the complete curriculum and instructional materials, an explanation of the exemption under sub. (4), and a statement that pupils exempted from instruction under this section will still receive instruction in the subjects under s. 118.01(2)(d)2. c., unless exempted, and s. 118.01(2)(d) 8. The school board shall make the complete human growth and development curriculum and all instructional materials available for inspection by a parent or guardian upon his or her request at any time, including prior to their use in the classroom.

118.019(4)(4) Exemption for individual pupils. No pupil may be required to take instruction in human growth and development or in the specific subjects under subs. (2) and (2m) if the pupil’s parent or guardian files with the teacher or school principal a written request that the pupil be exempted.

Notices and exemptions are ways for parents can handle problematic teaching. The better way for the parent to combat this is to send their children to a private school, or to home school their children.

How can you as a taxpayer combat this?  If the school district elects to offer Sex Ed they must put together an Advisory Committee.

“This is where citizens can have an impact on what is taught in the classrooms—speakers, videos, books, brochures distributed, activities, etc. You can volunteer to serve on this advisory committee,” according to legislative assistant Jolene Churchill.

Being appointed to the Advisory Committee is another example of the Local Initiative. I would recommend this remedy, while there is still time.

118.019(5)(5)  Advisory committee. In any school district that offers a human growth and development curriculum, the school board shall appoint an ad-hoc advisory committee whose role is to advise the school board on the design and implementation of the human growth and development curriculum and to review the curriculum. Parents, teachers, school administrators, pupils, health care professionals, members of the clergy, and other residents of the school district shall comprise the committee. No one category of member shall constitute more than one-fifth of the membership of the committee, except that parents may comprise more than one-fifth of the membership of the committee. No more than one quarter of the members of the committee may be made up of employees of the school district or their spouses or members of the school board or their spouses.

Finally, you can run for local school board or you can run for state-wide office.  Being in a position of authority allows you to act more effectively. If you aren’t willing to run, join the Constitution Party of Wisconsin, where our candidates will be committed to Godly principles of education and who will uphold our Party’s Platform:

“All teaching is related to basic assumptions about God and man. Education as a whole, therefore, cannot be separated from religious faith. The law of our Creator assigns the authority and responsibility of educating children to their parents.”

The philosophy of education in one generation is the politics of the next generation.  This matter is of utmost importance.
