CPoW Says: Stand Your Ground!

And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?
And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?” Genesis 4:9

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

On July 20th, 2013 several members of the Constitution Party of Wisconsin (CPoW), including myself, took the Concealed Carry Permit course, responding to the Public Service Announcements (PSA) of Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. We wanted to find out the particulars of the current law in Wisconsin.  For the record, CPoW favors Constitutional Carry as necessary to securing our long-term freedom.  Here is what I learned:

Consider the much ballyhooed Castle Doctrine that was passed in 2011, Wisconsin Act 94. It is a step forward, but only a small step. It says there is no duty to retreat inside your house, or inside your car. That is fine, but what if you cannot beat a retreat into your castle?  What if you are over at your mom’s house, helping her with some home repairs and an uninvited interloper walks in? The Castle Doctrine will not protect you from civil action, unless your Mom is being directly assaulted. By then it could be too late. Basically, in Wisconsin as in all “duty to retreat” states, the law favors the criminal over the victim.  Perpetrators do sue victims who resist. If the perpetrator is killed in self-defense, the mother of the perpetrator will often sue the victim, because “Mom,” cannot figure out that babies are not cute anymore when they are 18-year-old criminals.

Stand your ground, has been much maligned as of late, but we need it here in Wisconsin. The right to self-defense ought not be contingent upon whether you like or dislike the person who was attacked. Most likely you will not like the victim of an attack in the cases the media publicizes, because they portray the likes of you and me as monsters, while the same media portrays criminals as cuddly little teddy bears, who have gotten a bad shake.

You are responsible for how you act. It used to be that if you committed a crime, you were an “outlaw,” you were outside of the protection of the law, and you were responsible for everything that occurred in the chain of events that you unleashed. For an example scenario, if you held up a store, got in your car to get away, and another motorist trying to avoid your crummy driving, ran over a pedestrian, you would be the one facing charges for the consequences of your evil deeds, and rightly so. After all, Law is for Lawless.

Regarding the title scripture, God ignored Cain’s question, because the answer was obvious, Cain being the world’s first murderer. People need obvious these days, so I will tell you, you are your brother’s keeper, and you are to love your neighbor as yourself. Americans can begin by reining in their temper tantrums, and start treating your neighbor with the respect. That would go a long way to prevent crime in the first place.

Constitution Party of Wisconsin says: The IRS is Un-American

abolish IRS

“He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”- Declaration of Independence

During our founding era, King George and the British Parliament levied excise taxes upon the colonies without their consent.  The United States Constitution set up a congress from which all monetary bills were to originate.  Our US Census was not for social engineering, it was to ensure that the congressional representation was proportioned to the actual population.  This was done to undergird the principle of “No Taxation without Representation.”

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) undermines this principle with myriads of regulations, which are written by bureaucrats and are not ratified by Congress. The Constitution Party of Wisconsin (CPoW) position is that the IRS and the federal income tax must be abolished.  As long as we have a tax code of which the average American can never fully comply, our citizens will continue to be at the mercy of the whims of IRS bureaucrats. When the IRS is abolished, the bad behavior will stop, and not before.
