“Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men,
such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place
such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds,
rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens” Exodus 18:21
By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman
“Are Christian Statesmen people you will support, or is that just something you say? On November 6th former Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode will be on the ballot for President. You can also write-in CPoW State Chairman Riley J. Hood for US Senate. Our Constitution Party candidates are 100% Pro-Life, 100% Pro-Second Amendment, 100% Pro-Family Christians. You do not have to choose between evil men, you can cast a righteous vote for our Constitution Party candidates.”
That was the message our robo-calls that CPoW sent out this year. I do not relish taking Christians to task, because the Church of Jesus Christ is a God-ordained Institution, it is Church government. Having said that; Churches are supposed to behave like the Churches, proclaiming God’s Law and the Gospel. “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou might behave thyself in the house of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” I Timothy 3:15 While Churches have never been perfect, this election cycle was worse than ever. Every 4 years there is silence out the Church, and Christian organizations, but this year, added to that, were outright lies.
- The silence of the wolves. Every year I hear from neutralist Pastors who state the tired mantra, “I don’t want you to vote as a GOP man, or a Democrat, or 3rd Party, I want you to vote as a Christian.” Never mind that Jesus Christ is King of Kings, and His Kingdom is not a republic, and is never up for a vote. Republics are for men, to govern rightly down here on planet earth; on this side of life, in the here and now.
- Lambs sent over to the wolves. Back in the election of 1800 the Reverend William Linn took on the Deists, and stated “A vote for Jefferson was a sin against God.” Pastors preached election sermons, until they sold their souls for 501(c)3 IRS status. So Pastors tell their congregations to vague generalities with no immediate guidance as to who the good candidates are in the current election. It is like pulling teeth, to get a Christian Pastor to support a Christian candidate from a Bible-based political party these days. Most Christians have placed their faith in the GOP’s million dollar war-chests, rather than Biblical principles.
- Outright lies. This year, Romney, was the GOP candidate for President. Christians stated that, “I’m not voting for his theology, I’m voting for His moral integrity.” When you vote for a man, you get his theology and his ethics. You can’t vote for half a person. Romney has neither Biblical theology, nor Biblical ethics. Where were Romney’s ethics when he ran as a Pro-abort to be elected Governor of Massachusetts? Where was he when the State passed “Gay Marriage” into law? Where were his ethics when he gave Massachusetts Romney-Care?
So in addition to the shabby treatment Virgil Goode endured, I had my own share of ill-treatment. When I stood in to run for US Senate against Tommy Thompson-socialist and Tammy Baldwin-lesbian; I was dropped from many Christian ministries I had been participating with for decades. I used to order literature to lit-drop in Milwaukee, two of my suppliers cut me off, namely Pilgrim’s Covenant Church, and Osterhus Publishing. Both of whom lament the lack of Christian Statesmen, but can’t put forth the effort to support one when he steps forward.
When I sent a Virgil Goode flyer with my response to Voice of the Martyr’s, I was sent an unsigned letter, excoriating me for sending them something “political.” I guess exhorting Christians to vote for another Christian is “dirty” in their uninformed minds. Never mind, that VOM is based in the USA, and not in the heavens, thus it would behoove them to take a little effort to see that our country doesn’t turn into Iran, Saudi Arabia, or Communist China.
So now that I have pointed out the problem, that I and the other members of the Party have been experiencing for years, I will spell out a proper response. While some people have been goaded to wrath, and taught rebellion against the Lord, by saying we should not attend Church, nor pay our tithe, I oppose those tactics. Go to Church, pay your tithe, attend the Life-chain, and be the best Christian you can be in that congregation. Next, start to confront your fellow Christians, including your elders and pastors about these matters. Be their “bad conscious.” They will be full of debate, and evasion, but keep bringing them back to the truth, and especially, use those Bible verses that apply to the civil authority. It won’t be easy, but the effort must be made. Even the Apostle wrote to the Galatians when speaking about Christian Liberty, “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” Galatians 4:16
You will be in good company, after all God sent Prophets to speak to both the Priesthood and the Civil Government in the Old Testament. You need to be in your local Church, exhorting your fellow Christians to take a righteous stand in these matters. The State of Wisconsin is a large area to cover, the Party leadership can’t do it all, and we thank you in advance for doing your part where God has placed you. After all, your sound words and dedication is indeed one of the best ways CPoW can be its own media. If you fly off the handle, and spout something ill-considered, you will set CPoW and the cause of freedom backwards instead of forwards. To sum up our course of action, would be to “Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
On a final note, after having done all to stand, we stood. America sinned a great a sin this election, the pagans voted for Obama, several States legalized “gay marriage” and also legalized the use of marijuana, aka smoking dope. Believe you me, those men who are doing this will bear their judgment, “For the time is come, that judgment must be begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what then shall be the end of them that obey not the Gospel of God?” I Peter 4:17
